So…one of the perks of my job is being able to get hook ups to sweet concerts and big events. When I first heard this, I was excited, but didn’t really want to take advantage too soon. I’m glad I did not heed to this too long, because this past Saturday April and I got press passes for Governor’s Ball.
Now, I’d say there are two major kinds of concert goers. Everyone falls to one side more or less:
1. The people who are there more for the experience, don’t get too into the music ever, but always have a great time.
2. The people there for the music, leaving at the end of the night with battle wounds and happy hearts.
Ape and I were very much numero dos. Alas, this meant that (being foolishly naïve and never having access to a press pass before) we missed out on the free patron and red bull. Yes, I know, foolish. BUT, we had an awesome time. Why and how? Because we were FRONT F’ING ROW for Empire of the Sun, Pretty Lights, Neon Indian, and Miami Horror. And we got to see the Passion Pit DJ Set. Amazing.
As it was the festival’s first year, and I had no clue what to expect, I did not bring a camera. Luckily, I work at a blog (hence the passes…) and one of my co-workers was there to take photos on a camera ten million times nicer than mine. Check it out here.
